Lauri Markkanen and the Finland national basketball team have gone on a historic run in EuroBasket 2025 to reach the Final 4. All team members again played well with Mikael Jantunen leading the way in points with 19, Lauri leading the way in blocks with 4, Miro Little leading in assists with 9, and Sasu Salin of all people leading in rebounds with 7.

Georgia down 17 at the half made a nice run in the second half of the game to climb within 6 but the overall shot making by the Finnish team sealed the win. Finland shot 17-31 from three for the game and 34-64 from two. Those are spectacular percentages from the field, especially in a game of this magnitude. Again, this game was played in Riga Latvia rather than in front of the home fans in Finland.

Next game for Finland will be between the winner of Germany and Slovenia. Germany is a clear favorite to win this game and advance to play Finland in the final 4 of EuroBasket 2025.

Lauri Markkanen and the Finland national basketball team earn the biggest win in Finnish basketball history by taking down Nikola Jokic and the Serbian national team.

For Finland to reach the round of 16 in EuroBasket 2025 was a huge accomplishment, but then to beat one of the favorites to win it all in Serbia, to move to the round of 8, is next level impressive. From top to bottom, the roster of Finnish players all played well. Multiple players stepped up and made big shots throughout the game. Second half threes by Salin, Muurinen and Valtonen were vitally important. The team also got off to a great start in the first half with Miro Little and Mikael Jantunen making threes at a high percentage.

Overall, this is a massive step forward for Finnish basketball. Lauri Markkanen is the focal point on offense, but the players surrounding him in this tournament have played stellar basketball.

Finland has a great opportunity to reach the final four EuroBasket 2025. The game against Georgia is certainly a winnable game.

Lauri Markkanen and the Finnish national basketball team are off to an amazing start in EuroBasket 2025. Finland is led by Lauri Markkanen of the Utah Jazz. Thus far, this is about as well as Lauri can play the game of basketball. These first three games were winnable games and Finland took full advantage of having the games played in front of home fans.

Against Sweden in the opening game, Lauri shot 7-15 from the field and 12-14 from the free throw line to score 28 points. In the second game against Great Britain, Lauri tallied 43 points on 13-22 shooting from the field and 10-11 from the free throw line. In the third game against Montenegro, Markkanen shot 8-16 from the field and 9-10 from the free throw line.

Lauri Markkanen is an extremely difficult match-up in FIBA basketball. His length and athleticism present a problem for many countries.

One of the most likeable people in the NBA re-signs with the Utah Jazz on a two-way NBA contract. Oscar Tshiebwe may not receive significant court time with the Jazz this coming season but he will certainly play a big role with the Salt Lake City Stars in the G-League. Oscar will receive time with the Jazz but the majority of his on-court minutes will be played with the Stars.

Oscar Tshiebwe is another terrific off-season addition by the Utah Jazz franchise. The positivity Oscar has on a team is absolutely infectious and from that standpoint alone, this is a great move.
